Naveed Ul Hassan · Environmentalist & Climate GIS Consultant

I map climate risk, count carbon, and write about both.

I work with NGOs, consultancies and climate companies that need satellite analysis, a greenhouse-gas inventory, a sustainability report, or writing that people finish reading. I live in the Karakoram, where glacier floods are a yearly reality, so I take this work personally.

climaRevolt

Challenge
Small firms are asked for carbon footprints, Carbon Reduction Plans and climate-risk data, but rarely have anyone to do the work or explain it.
Approach
I built climaRevolt as a small environmental practice: consulting services, courses, a content hub and a store of templates and low-carbon gear. I wrote the content, built the site and the order system myself, and look after its SEO.
Result
47 sourced explainers and guides, six fixed-quote services, six courses, and an online store with invoicing and order tracking.

Glacial flood risk in Gilgit-Baltistan

Challenge
Project teams need a quick, sourced picture of GLOF risk before planning work in a valley.
Approach
A desk brief on hazardous lakes and the 2026 alert season, plus a satellite method for tracking lake growth each year.
Result
A short, sourced brief with a repeatable monitoring plan.

A carbon footprint for a mountain guesthouse

Challenge
A small (fictional) Hunza guesthouse needs its first footprint to answer questions from tour operators.
Approach
Scope 1 and 2 inventory with IPCC factors, a grid-factor sensitivity range, and the GRI 305 report text.
Result
Clear numbers, honest uncertainty, and four practical next steps.

The Crisis on the Roof of the World

Challenge
After this year's floods, people wanted to help Gilgit-Baltistan but did not know where to start.
Approach
One hub that explains glacial floods, GLOF risk and water scarcity, lists verified relief organisations, and shows researchers and NGOs how to work with local people.
Result
A single page that links the reporting, the relief options and the collaboration routes.

The Heatwave That Put AI on Trial

Challenge
Data centres and heatwaves are straining power grids, but most coverage is either too technical or too vague.
Approach
I traced the numbers through the IEA, US national-lab research and heat-attribution studies, and wrote it for a general reader.
Result
A readable explainer with every figure linked to its source.

I'm Naveed Ul Hassan, an environmental engineer, ESG analyst and climate writer from Gilgit-Baltistan in northern Pakistan. The mountains here hold some of the largest glaciers outside the polar regions, and in 2026 the region was under glacial-flood alerts from March to August. I see the problems I write about from my own doorstep.

My work sits between data and words. I can run a satellite analysis or a carbon inventory, then write the report that explains it to a funder, a manager or the public. Most projects need both, and working with one person for the whole job saves you time and handovers.

FAQ

Common questions

How does pricing work?

The prices on this page are starting points. After a short call I send a fixed quote with the scope, timeline and payment terms in writing, so you know the full cost before any work starts.

Do you work with clients outside Pakistan?

Yes. All my work is remote. I am on Pakistan time (UTC+5), which overlaps with mornings in Europe and afternoons in East Asia, and I am happy to schedule calls outside my normal hours.

What data do you use for maps and analysis?

Usually free public satellite data such as Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 and Landsat, processed in Google Earth Engine or QGIS. I can also work with your own field data or with commercial high-resolution imagery that you license.

Which standards do you follow for GHG accounting and reporting?

The GHG Protocol for emissions inventories, and GRI, IFRS S1/S2 (ISSB) or CDP for reporting, depending on what your stakeholders ask for. I prepare inventories and reports; I do not provide third-party verification or assurance.

How long does a project take?

It depends on the scope and how quickly data arrives. As a rough guide, an article takes about a week, a hazard map one to two weeks, and a first GHG inventory three to six weeks. Your quote will include a firm timeline.

Can you sign an NDA?

Yes. I am happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement before you share any data, and I never show client work publicly without written permission.
